Problem
The purpose of this research
is to assist students through the use of fairy tales to develop reading
comprehension skills. Stories should be used to meet the learning needs of
students and in turn improve their understanding and the environment within the
English class, that is, students feel motivated to participate in activities.
In addition, this research aims to analyze the impact and effectiveness of
applying the stories when developing reading comprehension.
For this reason, it is
necessary to implement these activities that would be of great importance to
improve the reading skill of the students. These activities will also facilitate
the learning of the students of the institution in which the investigation will be applied. Students will be exposed to material that attracts a lot of attention, thus
awakening their interest to discover new things.
There is an interest in
changing the way of teaching the English language using new teaching materials.
This research topic is original because it promotes the use of stories as it
motivates students and makes them strive to continue understanding and discovering
new things about the story.
This research is feasible
because it was previously applied by different researchers in international
contexts; but it is authentic because it is the first time it will be applied with
Ecuadorian students. Additionally, there is significant material, which will be
appropriate to the age, and the level of the students.
Fifth grade students, ages
7 to 9, will benefit from the implementation of story-related activities that
will help them develop their reading comprehension. Not only they will be
useful in the area of English, but also throughout their academic life.
